Phonics
At Hallcroft we love to read and write!
Phonic Sessions run daily at Hallcroft from Foundation 1 all the way to Year 2. Pupils take part in dedicated, daily sessions where they are able to recap on their previous learning, learn new phonemes and strategies and apply these skills in their reading and writing. We follow the DfE Letters and Sounds scheme for our Phonics lessons in school.
Letters and Sounds has been split into six different phases with suggestions of what age group of pupils should access which phase and when. We all know that children progress at different rates so you may want to talk to you child's class teacher about which phase activities would be the most appropriate for your child.
